Tottenham have been handed a major injury boost as they prepare to take on Liverpool on Saturday. As two of just four unbeaten sides left in the league, it is a huge game for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

So far they have beaten off every challenge thrown at them including a stubborn Sheffield United, high-pressing Burnley and unpredictable Manchester United. It was their bravery and resilience that proved so effective against Arsenal in the North London Derby on Sunday though.

Twice coming from behind, Spurs were able to peg their opponents back at key times and grew into the game playing Postecoglou’s nerveless style of football throughout. They will now need similar levels of fearlessness if they are to bypass Jurgen Klopp’s equally attacking Liverpool side.

The Reds have scored three goals in each of their last five games and have only got less than two on one occasion so far this term. In all competitions, it’s 21 goals in eight games. As they prepare to take on Postecoglou’s free-flowing, free-spirited attacking side there is a new problem to deal with.

James Maddison, who went down after taking a blow to the knee at the Emirates Stadium, is expected to be fit to play. The 26-year-old was key to the draw against Arsenal, assisting both of Son Heung-Min’s goals, and has been training on the grass at Hotspur Way, football.london understands.

Tottenham monitored his physical condition after the knock and had a scan but much of the feedback has been positive. He was moving normally after the game and downplayed the incident. “I had a little moment when I tackled Jorginho where I jolted my knee a little bit,” he said.
