Ben Johnson are reportedly interested in Ben Johnson.

That’s according to Claret & Hugh, who have claimed that the defender looks set to leave West Ham.

Johnson has been with the Irons for 17 years and made his Premier League debut in February 2019. The full-back was named West Ham’s Young Player of the Season in both 2021 and 2022, before signing a two-year contract extension.

However, Johnson’s minutes have been limited and has only managed one appearance in the Carabao Cup this season.

With the 23-year-old’s current deal set to expire next summer, West Ham had offered him fresh terms, but the report claims he is unhappy with them. With the defender now unlikely to accept the new contract, he will now be made available for transfer.

Johnson could leave the club in January, however that would depend on the Hammers finding a replacement. If not, he could instead bring his stay to an end in the summer.

Everton are one club thought to be interested in signing the England U21 international, with Southampton and Luton Town also considering a move for the out-of-favour full-back.

Ben Johnson would be a solid addition

Ben Johnson has been very promising for West Ham in the few years following his debut, with back-to-back Young Player of the Season awards suggesting he would surely be pushing for a regular place in the starting line-up.

However, Johnson is seen as back-up to Emerson and David Moyes has found his versatility very handy, but seemingly isn’t prepared to meet his contract demands to keep hold of him.

Johnson would definitely be a very good signing for the Toffees, who have struggled for quality in those full-back positions since the days of Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines.

The West Ham academy graduate is on rather low wages and would surely find a move to Goodison Park tempting, especially if they can stay in the Premier League. Though that will depend on how badly he wants to remain in London.
