Ange Postecoglou criticizes his Tottenham team for “taking liberties in possession,” while stating Spurs had “the WORST 45 minutes we’ve had all year,” despite the fact that Spurs are currently nine games unbeaten in the Premier League after a 2-0 win over Fulham.

Ange Postecoglou claims his team suffered ‘the worst 45 minutes all year’ against Fulham.
Tottenham beat Fulham 2-0 at home on Monday night to maintain their lead in the Premier League.

Despite extending their unbeaten Premier League run with a 2-0 victory against Fulham on Monday night, Ange Postecoglou has chastised his Tottenham squad for being ‘wasteful with the ball’ and ‘taking liberties’.

Son Heung-min scored after 36 minutes, weaving his way past the Fulham defense and smashing the ball into the back of the net. James Maddison then scored his fourth Premier League goal of the season, extending his outstanding streak.

Despite having gained a two-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the league rankings, as well as extending their unbeaten streak to nine games, the Australian manager responded angrily after the game.

‘It was a good result obviously against a tough opponent,’ he told BBC Sport. ‘We maintained our patience, they were not going to open up too much for us. I thought our pressing was really strong.

‘In the second half we were really wasteful with the ball. We gave it away too much. The positive thing our work-rate was still excellent.

‘We went a little bit away from the things in the second half, we had been doing all year. We were taking some liberties with possession and that can allow them back into the game.

‘Both our goals game from our press to be honest. Our work off the ball was excellent. It has been first rate all year and that is what got us the result.’

‘Thought our pressure was superb the whole game,’ he said in his post-match interview with Sky Sports. But I was genuinely upset with the second half – it was perhaps the worst 45 minutes we’ve had all year with the ball. We should have had more say.’
