Sandro Tonali, the Newcastle United player, may be close to reaching a resolution in his betting case, as per the latest updates from the Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport. Today is seen as a crucial moment in this matter, following a decision made in the case of Nicolo Fagioli, which has prompted Tonali’s lawyers to meet with the federal prosecutors.

Sandro Tonali is showing hints he could be Newcastle's new Paul Gascoigne

It appears that Tonali is aiming for a plea deal with the Italian authorities, and the current objective is to negotiate an agreement between his legal team and the prosecution. Recent reports have indicated that Tonali’s involvement in betting on Milan’s games could complicate his situation. Corriere Dello Sport suggests that a possible outcome could involve a one-year suspension, followed by an additional six months of rehabilitation, during which the midfielder may be allowed to play.

The “white smoke” symbolizing the plea agreement’s impending arrival is a positive sign, and the final approval of the deal rests with FIGC president Gabriele Gravina. Despite the extensive nature of the investigation, the report suggests that Tonali’s case is nearing its conclusion with the submission of the plea deal.

In light of Nicolo Fagioli’s seven-month penalty, it appears that Tonali may face an even more severe verdict in his case.
