AC Milan are reportedly working a deal to sign Lloyd Kelly just hours after Liverpool were again linked with the AFC Bournemouth star.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Rossoneri are keen on recruiting the Cherries defender, with Kelly’s contract due to expire next summer as transfer interest ramps up for the 25-year-old.
TalkSport reported earlier today that Liverpool are admirers of the Cherries centre-back, though Milan have now entered the race for Kelly in a big way.
As per Romano, Juventus are also interested in the defender, and Liverpool’s own pursuit to sign Kelly could now be close to collapse if they don’t respond quickly enough.
Defence is an area that Liverpool need to invest in this January, and given Kelly’s Premier League experience and age, the Bournemouth star could not be any more perfect for the Reds.
Kelly is clearly going to become a man in demand this January, and Liverpool need to make sure that they are the side who win the race for the defender’s signature.
Whilst Milan would be a tempting move given the sheer stature of the club, the appeal of playing at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp could be just as great for Kelly.
As a result, Liverpool have a good chance at landing the 25-year-old in the new year, though work needs to begin soon if they’re to land the defender’s signature.
