For the remainder of the season, Everton can undoubtedly rely on two key players: Abdoulaye Doucoure has signed a new deal, while Amadou Onana has put an end to rumours of a move to Newcastle United.

Since making the £33 million transfer from Lille to Goodison Park in August 2022, Onana has established himself as one of Everton’s greatest players. Despite Everton’s lack of success during that period, the centre midfielder has left a lasting impression with his commanding displays in the middle of the park.

Due to his exceptional play, Onana was linked to summer moves by Chelsea and Manchester United, among other elite teams.

While neither of those Premier League giants completed his capture, there have been rumours of a January switch away from Everton.

“Last season, I developed mentally a lot,” he stated in an interview with the Belgian publication DH Net.

“I always battled for honours or trophies. It’s a different mindset; you have to get used to losing virtually every weekend. Hard work, that. We were under a great deal of pressure since the tale was weighing heavily on us.

“I would have blamed myself all my life for a club like that to be in the Championship,” says Amadou Onana in response to Newcastle’s proposal. I never forgot it since we were reminded of it every day.

“I continue to learn. both in terms of myself and football. This season we have to do more running, defence, and suffering. I accept that things.

To be honest, we want to return Everton to their rightful place. We clearly want to be higher up the table and in a strong position in the Carabao Cup.

“I want to compete for Everton every week and give it everything I have.”

The signing of Doucoure to a new contract will benefit all Everton supporters. The 30-year-old has thrived this season in Dyche’s preferred more advanced attacking midfield role.

Doucoure has already netted goals in the league against Brentford, Bournemouth, and Sheffield United, propelling Everton reach ten points from the same number of games.

Keeping Onana and Doucoure at the club will give Everton a much better chance at staying out of a relegation fight and moving up the table this term.

However, a source claims that Juventus is preparing a surprise bid for one of Everton’s attackers after adding him to a four-man shortlist.
