Nottingham Forest were linked with Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in the summer and it might be a good thing he wasn’t signed.
The Frenchman ended up signing for Galatasaray and they’re not impressed with the £120,000-a-a-week player.
Forest looked at Ndombele when a deal for Ibrahim Sangare looked unlikely to happen during the transfer window.
Steve Cooper identified a defensive midfielder and cheaper alternatives to Sangare were being compiled.
Forest-linked Ndombele hasn’t impressed Galatasaray
A report from Turkey has made quite an astonishing claim about Ndombele and it looks like Forest did well to avoid the player.
It’s been claimed by Fotospor that Ndombele is not currently getting picked because he’s 6kg overweight!
That might not sound like much in the grand scheme of things but this is a professional athlete we’re talking about.
Forest linked Ndombele has further riled boss Okan Buruk by recently ordering a hamburger at a restaurant after a recent game against Bayern Munich.
Forest did well to avoid signing Tottenham man
At 26-years-old, Ndombele should be in his prime. Last season, he did help Napoli win Serie A but they chose not to sign him permanently.
Now, perhaps it’s clear why he was forced to settle for a move to Turkey and not stay in a major European league.
Forest don’t need any passengers in their time and thankfully, they chose to ride it out for Sangare and didn’t opt for Ndombele.
The Reds now have a plethora of midfielders in their squad. Sangare has struck up a relationship with Orel Mangala and Nicolas Dominguez in recent weeks.
Ryan Yates and Andrey Santos are options in reserve; with Cheikhou Kouyate further down the pecking order.
