The midfielder has scored three of the Toffees’ ten Premier League goals so far this season.

Dyche added: “I have long been an admirer of Doucs’ qualities and, from the moment I became Everton manager, I was keen to get him into our team and for him to show what he can do.

“He repaid that decision with some excellent performances and crucial goals, not least the winner on the final day of last season which sealed our objective for that campaign to stay in the Premier League.

“Doucs has continued to impress this season and we are confident he will remain an integral part of our squad going forward.”

With the signing of a new contract, Abdoulaye Doucoure has completed his comeback at Everton under Sean Dyche.

When his previous contract was set to end in the summer of 2020, Everton stood to lose the £20 million signing on a free transfer; however, he has now committed to stay until 2025.

During the final five months of former manager Frank Lampard’s tenure, the former Watford midfielder did not start a game; nevertheless, Dyche started him in the starting lineup for the first game of his tenure. Doucoure, whose eight goals, including the game-winning goal against Bournemouth on the last day of the previous season, have been Everton’s leading scorer under Dyche.

The 30-year-old claimed that “the manager’s arrival changed everything.” I’m thrilled to be staying longer because I adore Everton and I look forward to working with the team. The choice was really simple to make.

“I cherish every individual within the club and all of the supporters who have lavished me with love over the last few months.” All I wanted was to stay here and keep having fun with Everton. Staying here has great significance. I’ve always been in love with this club and I constantly fight for it. My dream has always been to remain at Everton. I want to continue battling for the club and the badge.

Dyche added: “I have long been an admirer of Doucs’ qualities and, from the moment I became Everton manager, I was keen to get him into our team and for him to show what he can do.
