Jordan Ayew is now set to make Premier League history at Crystal Palace against Burnley on Saturday.

The 32-year-old will do something nobody else has ever done if he starts at Turf Moor.

So, what is the situation involving Jordan Ayew? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Crystal Palace No.9 is on the verge of history.

If Roy Hodgson chooses to start Ayew against Vincent Kompany’s side, it would see him become the first Ghanaian ever to make 250 appearances in the Premier League.

Not even the likes of Michael Essien or Asamoah Gyan managed that.

169 of those Premier League outings have come in red and blue, as Ayew made 30 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa, and 50 for Swansea.

The £2.5m man is usually one of the first names on the 76-year-old’s teamsheet, and he is not injured ahead of the trip to Lancashire.

Therefore, it is highly likely that Ayew makes history at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

That is not the only interesting statistic surrounding the Ghana international.

Furthermore, the 32-year-old is also currently the most fouled player in the Premier League this season, having been felled on 34 occasions, as shown by the BBC.

Ayew is – however – joint top for most fouls conceded with 20, showing that he can dish it out as well as take it.

Jordan Ayew loves Crystal Palace

Ayew could make Premier League history in the same week that he signed a new contract at Selhurst Park, which runs until June 2025.

Whether you agreed with Steve Parish’s decision to offer the Marseille-born striker a fresh deal or not, his message to supporters after putting pen to paper was lovely.

Ayew wrote on Instagram: “I’m so happy to have extended my stay with this special club again. This is my home and I’m really proud to wear our shirt 🙏🏾♥️

“The fans have always been amazing with me and the only way to pay back their support is to fight every minute I’m on the pitch. Thank you to the boss Roy, Steve Parish, Dougie Freedman and all the staff for the trust they’ve had in me since I arrived 🙏🏾 Back to work… 💪🏾🦅🔴🔵”

Hopefully – if he does start – Ayew can mark his 250th Premier League appearance by getting on the scoresheet for Crystal Palace, after scoring in Friday’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham.
