Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has been boosted with the return of influential duo Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze to first-team training ahead of their game against Burnley this weekend.

Olise one of the best players in the league last season signed a new deal to become one of the highest earners at the club but a relapse in his healing from a hamstring injury has meant he’s yet to be involved this weekend.

Eze hasn’t been involved since the win at Manchester United and it’s easy to see that they are the best players for the club when they are fit and going in games.

The Eagles have struggled in their last few games and played well on Friday night when they host league leaders Tottenham at the Selhurst but ultimately lost 2-1 without their influential duo.

Experienced manager Hodgson got the best out of them last season when he took over and he bemoaned the lack of experienced heads in his team in the defeat against Spurs, claiming they got weaker when he makes his substitutions.

He told reporters after the game against Tottenham: “Maybe the young substitutes, who we like to think we can believe in and would help us to a different level, didn’t show that. They didn’t do anything for us at all, really. We became much weaker when I made the substitutions.

He will now be delighted that he is at least able to work players proven in the Premier League as he looks to get the Eagles back to winning games and climbing the table.
