James Chester, who was a lifelong Manchester United supporter, now has a stronger affinity with Aston Villa and feels tremendous joy in having contributed to the team’s rebirth.
At Villa Park, he is revered as a hero for his unselfish efforts in helping the team win promotion back to the Premier League. When Villa needed him most during their most trying years over the previous few decades, Chester even went so far as to permanently sacrifice for the cause and inflict permanent physical harm while performing his duties as the epitome of professionalism.
Following Villa’s relegation to the Championship, the center-back joined the team in the summer of 2016 and amassed 126 appearances in claret and blue. Having played every minute of league football during his first two seasons at the club, as well as playing through pain in 2018–19 even though Villa didn’t have much chance of pushing for promotion, his commitment was unmatched.
Unai Emery owns the majority of Real Union, a Spanish team, and Aston Villa are apparently about to finalize their deal through V Sports.
Two and a half years ago, the head coach of Villa purchased a controlling interest in the third-tier team. Union, a founding club of La Liga, has had financial difficulties lately.
Union has played in Spain’s third division ever since they were demoted from the second division in the 2009–10 campaign. The 52-year-old Emery was raised only three miles from Irundarra, where both his father and grandpa were players for the squad.
Coach Fernando Diniz of the Brazil national team thinks midfielder Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa can be a part of a revamped Selecao as the five-time World Cup winners enter a new chapter in their history.
Luiz won the team’s player of the year award the previous season and has been in incredible form for Villa over the past twelve months. Since making his final appearance for the Brazil national team against Uruguay in October 2021, the 25-year-old has not been considered for a call-up.
Prior to their November internationals against Argentina and Colombia—both crucial World Cup qualifiers—Diniz brought Luiz back to the team. During his Monday press conference, Luiz’s inclusion was questioned by the acting Brazil manager.
The show goes on
Fluminense midfielder Andre has reportedly caught Arsenal’s attention as they pursue Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz.
According to the Brazilian publication UOL, Arsenal has reportedly been keeping an eye on Andre lately. Fulham is dominating the race, although Liverpool and other teams are rumored to be interested as well.
In the new year, the Gunners might focus once more on the highly effective Luiz if they are unable to complete a move for Andre. Longtime fan of Luiz, who has been playing exceptionally well under Unai Emery, is Mikel Arteta.
Making his mark
Matt Lowton, a former right-back for Aston Villa, has joined Witton Albion in the English football league’s eighth division.
After spending eight years at Turf Moor, the 34-year-old left Burnley at the end of the previous season, making him a free agent.
He had successful stints with Sheffield United, Huddersfield Town, and Villa before that. From 2012 to 2015, he worked at B6 for three seasons.
After joining Sheffield United in the summer, Cameron Archer is already having a “deadly” effect after leaving Aston Villa. After spending time on loan at Solihull Moors, Preston North End, and Middlesbrough in the past, striker Archer ended his Villa career in the summer by joining the newly promoted Blades for a reported fee of approximately £18 million.
After Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran, Archer, 21, was projected by Unai Emery to be Villa’s third-choice center forward this season. However, the club allowed his permanent exit to a Premier League competitor with a buy-back clause included into the deal.
Despite their overall struggles, Archer has managed to convert a couple of goals for Sheffield United, who are currently bottom of the league after suffering nine defeats in 11 games and scoring just nine goals, two of which were own goals. The team hasn’t had an easy time since returning to the top flight.
