This former Everton man is currently in excellent form, outperforming star midfielders James Garner and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Everton has faced numerous unsuccessful transfers, with players expected to enhance Goodison Park leaving after a short and disappointing tenure.

Players like James Rodriguez, Davy Klaassen, and Cenk Tosun are recent examples that spring to mind; they all joined the Blues from far away with the potential to become future stars.

Three players, including Klaassen, left the team after unspectacular stays, leaving a minimal impact after joining Ajax in 2017.

Ademola Lookman, a talented homegrown player with the Addicks, was considered a potential great for the Toffees but failed to make a significant impact.

Lookman scored 12 times for Charlton before switching to Everton, which didn’t go as planned for the attacker.

The cost of signing Lookman for Everton is currently unknown.

The Nigerian international will cost the Toffees £11 million to bring to Goodison Park. After the move was finalised, Lookman told the Guardian that it “feels great” to be an Everton player.

It would turn out to be a costly mistake for Everton, as Lookman became goal-averse for his most of the time he was wearing a Toffees uniform before being fired in 2019.

Lookman’s numbers for Everton have been provided.

Although the now 26-year-old would only manage four goals in 48 games while playing for Everton, he did have the best possible start to his career with the Blues by scoring in his first match against Manchester City.

It was downhill however from then on in for the former Charlton attacker in his new surroundings, never scoring again in top-flight actions for Everton past this debut strike.

In his last Premier League season, he would notch up two assists for the team. However, RB Leipzig quickly intervened to remove the underperforming midfield player from Merseyside, initially on a loan that was then extended to a permanent arrangement.

Marco Silva selling Lookman on for £22m in 2019 did manage to recuperate money back from the original ill-fated deal, with the one-time Toffees dud now excelling in Italy with Atalanta after moving on again from Leipzig.

Lookman’s performance since leaving Everton has been analyzed.

The Blues were eager to return Lookman after his departure to Germany, especially considering his poor form in the Bundesliga.

With just five goals in 24 games for The Red Bulls, Lookman’s performance was disappointing and he left the team to play for Leicester City.

Before joining Atalanta in Italy last summer, Lookman would go through a number of moves. Since then, he has been able to regain his best form and turn his struggling career around.

After 11 games, Atalanta’s number 11 has managed three goals and two assists, outperforming James Garner and Abdoulaye Doucoure of Everton in Serie A. Doucoure has three goals but only one assist this term, compared to Garner’s two goals and one assist.

In total, he’s managed 28 goal contributions for the Black and Blues over two full seasons since waving his nightmarish spell at Everton goodbye.

The former Everton flop is a man reborn in Bergamo, a constant thorn in Inter Milan’s side last time out in league action with Lookman assisting Gianluca Scamacca for the solitary Atalanta goal in a narrow 2-1 defeat.

The 26-year-old has recovered from his blip at Goodison Park tremendously, focused now on helping his exciting Atalanta team reach new heights in Serie A.
