Roy Hodgson has said Michael Olise is prepared to make his season debut, which is a huge boost for Crystal Palace.
After suffering a serious injury during the close of the previous campaign, Olise has been going back to training, but he was unable to join Eberechi Eze in returning for Burnley’s victory last week.
It will be a difficult match for Hodgson’s team when Everton comes to Selhurst Park, but they will now be strengthened by the return of one of their best players from the previous campaign.
Michael Olise to return to Crystal Palace squad
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Hodgson confirmed the excellent news that the 21-year-old is finally able to return.
“Michael Olise has trained with us fully this week, so he’s another one I’ll have in the squad ready for selection,” Hodgson stated.
Could Olise play against Everton?
Olise will almost certainly not start tomorrow, but it seems likely that we will see him come off the bench at some point.
The Frenchman needs to be eased back in following his injury, and will need minutes to gain match fitness.
He will be a very welcome acquisition if Crystal Palace finds themselves chasing a lead since he will give a lot of creativity to the team after contributing 11 assists the previous season.
It is unlikely that Olise will come off the bench if Palace are leading comfortably, but he provides Hodgson with an additional attacking option. Olise can return in a less demanding situation instead of having to defend a narrow advantage or chase the game.
After receiving interest from Chelsea and Manchester City, Olise decided to extend his contract with the team in the summer. After he gets back to full fitness, he hopes to someday resume his finest playing days.
