John Salako wanted ‘sensational’ Sean Dyche to join Crystal Palace, not Everton. John Salako has revealed that he wanted Sean Dyche to join Crystal Palace instead of Everton.

Speaking on the BBC’s Football Focus on Saturday (11 November, 12:39pm), the pundit said the Toffees boss is a “sensational manager” after the job he’s done since taking over in January at Goodison Park.

He added that the Englishman “doesn’t get the plaudits he deserves”, with the Blues now sitting eight points above the Premier League relegation zone following the 3-2 victory over the Eagles  Saturday.

“I wanted Sean here,” said Solako. “Sensational manager. Doesn’t get the plaudits he deserves as a manager. But he’s certainly finding his feet at Everton – a fantastic side, with Doucoure, Gueye in there and Calvert-Lewin back.”

There is no doubt that Dyche deserves an awful lot of credit after the incredible job he’s done under difficult circumstances at Goodison Park over the past few months.

The Toffees manager led the club to safety last season when they looked almost certain to be relegated from the Premier League.

After a difficult start to this campaign, he’s managed to turn things around over the past few weeks, recording six victories from the past nine games.

The Blues are now looking like a side that can compete on their day against the vast majority of teams across the division as they continue their climb up the table.

While matters off the pitch are still uncertain, the recent performances from the Merseysiders have added some much-needed positivity around the club.
