The Belgium international was replaced by Idrissa Gueye, who would go on to score his side’s winner

Amadou Onana’s agent has confirmed he was substituted at half-time during Everton’s win over Crystal Palace as a precaution.

After missing the 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion, Sean Dyche confirmed ahead of his side’s game at Selhurst Park that Onana was a doubt for the fixture due to a calf injury. However, on the day, he was deemed fit enough to start.

But during the interval of Everton’s 3-2 win, the Belgium international was replaced by Idrissa Gueye, who would go on to score his side’s winner with just four minutes of normal time remaining.

Onana has joined up with the Belgium national squad for the latest round of international fixtures, and his sister, Melissa Onana, who is also his agent, has provided a fitness update in which she reveals the change on Saturday was just for ‘security’.
