If Sunderland hopes to repeat last year’s success, they should consider adding a new striker in January. Mason Burstow hasn’t shown much of a spark this season, and Sunderland has struggled up front.

Jack Clarke, the team’s standout player, is the only one with more than three goals this season. Goals have been hard to come by.

As a result, everyone agrees that Tony Mowbray should prioritize getting a striker in January.

Pundit Carlton Palmer has now expressed a similar opinion.

Palmer advises Mowbray to sign a striker

Palmer clarified to Football League World that the Stadium of Light’s glaring vulnerability at the moment is up front.

According to Tony Mowbray, Mayenda is back in the training zone and leading the team in goals scored. For Sunderland and its supporters, this is fantastic news.

“As of right now, none of the four strikers they signed in the summer have scored a goal.

Sunderland has to find a solution for this portion of the pitch, and they believe Mayenda can help.

“You can’t simply rely on one individual to score you all the goals; I think they still need to go into the January transfer market to bring in a goalscorer if they want to replicate what they accomplished last season or better.

“They’re not too bad—they’ve scored 27 goals in 16 games—but you can only imagine how much better they could be if they had a 20-goal season.”

Many felt that more additions were still necessary even after Mayenda was signed in the summer.

Can Mayenda be Sunderland’s number nine?
