Everton: Alan Myers makes ‘never seen before’ prediction after punishment

Alan Myers makes ‘never seen before’ Everton prediction after 10-point deduction

The decision to hand Everton a 10-point deduction will unite everyone associated with the club, according to Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers.

The Toffees have been handed the sanction from the Premier League for a breach of its profit and sustainability rules [Sky Sports, 17 November].

The deduction takes place with immediate effect, meaning the club have dropped from 14th to 19th place in the league table.

“There will be many delighted, even buoyed by this decision, but this should be motivation enough to bring the strongest bond, the fiercest and resolute response and one which will bring a defining unity the likes never seen before by Evertonians,” Myers wrote on X.

Strong response incoming?

One thing is clear, and it is that there is a strong response needed from everyone connected with the Merseyside club.

They will, of course, be feeling very hard done by, particularly given how some of their Premier League rivals may just have avoided similar punishments.

But there isn’t much time for Sean Dyche and his players to feel sorry for themselves, with the fixtures arriving thick and fast when the current international break comes to an end.

Up first for the Toffees is a huge meeting at home to Premier League giants Manchester United, with that game taking place at Goodison Park on 26 November.

Newcastle United and Chelsea also make the trip to Merseyside in the near future, with Everton travelling to Nottingham Forest and Burnley.

There is also the chance for the Toffees to continue enjoying their time in the League Cup, with Fulham coming to Goodison Park in the quarter-finals of the competition before Christmas.
