Leicester City favourite Gary Lineker has weighed in on Everton’s Premier League points deduction.

The Toffees have been docked 10 points after they were found to have broken the league’s profit and sustainability rules. It is a move that has angered Leicester fans given the teams were in a relegation battle last season.

Lineker, a boyhood City fan who played for the club over 200 times, has given his thoughts on the decision. He posted his take on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

He wrote: “With Everton being docked 10 points it will be very interesting to see if other clubs are sanctioned.”

It comes as Manchester City are face 115 charges for similar rule breaches. They have not yet been handed any punishment.

Lineker joined Everton from City in 1985. He scored 40 goals in 57 appearances for the Merseyside club before moving to Barcelona.
