£40million Tottenham talks could unleash Everton game-changer for Sean Dyche after Dele Alli images released

If Everton can get the all clear to bring Dele Alli into the team this season it could be a game-changer for Sean Dyche based on the midfielder’s latest social media posting.

The manager confirmed earlier this season that the Toffees are in talks with Tottenham [Daily Mail, 22 September], with a £10million payment currently due to the London club if the 27-year-old plays seven more times, as part of the £40m agreement that brought him to Goodison Park for no up-front money two seasons ago [Sky Sports].

With extensive uncertainty around Everton’s finances, as there is still a takeover pending and the outcome of their independent commission hearing for an alleged profit and sustainability breach is yet to be announced, the club appear unable to afford the fee to use Dele much further.

He has been unavailable so far this season anyway as he recovers from offseason surgery, having so far made just 13 appearances during a difficult introduction to the club and a turbulent loan to Besiktas last term.

But while going public in the summer over his personal struggles in an interview with Gary Neville on The Overlap (13 July) the former Spurs man spoke of the support he had received from Dyche, outside of any plans for him to get back in the Everton side.

The manager subsequently revealed that Kevin Thelwell had been communicating with Tottenham over a change to the terms of the original deal, clearly suggesting there is a hope he can take to the field in a Toffees shirt going forward.

Now, Dele has posted on his Instagram page (15 November) to show himself in individual training, with the caption: “It’s not over until I win.”

It is easy to read too much into social media posts but with the former England star looking fit and not far off ready to potentially be involved in the first-team again the caption gives the impression of a rejuvenated player after so much difficulty.

Everybody is well aware of the quality Dele has shown before in his career, and even if he never quite reaches the same highs again he could be a jewel in this Toffees squad if he is able to feature with any regularity.

Therefore it would appear that a huge amount now relies on the talks with Tottenham reaching some sort of resolution, as the only alternatives would be for him to sit out or play elsewhere.

Abdoulaye Doucouré has become a key man for Dyche in the advanced midfield role but there is little obvious back up for that position, unless Dele comes back into the fold.

Should he be cleared to do so then, even as an impact substitute, he has the ability to take a rapidly improving Everton side to a new level.

Nobody outside of his very inner circle will know for sure but after the summer interview, the club then seeking to create a route for him to play again, and now the attitude broadcast on his social media, he looks like he could be ready to make up for lost time.
