Nottingham Forest and Everton will play a crucial match at the City Ground on Saturday.

The Reds’ lone success in the previous nine games came on November 5 at home against Aston Villa, winning 2-0. Although Forest is eight points above the relegation zone and currently sits in 15th place in the table, manager Steve Cooper is reportedly “under pressure,” despite other sources indicating that owner Evangelos Marinakis is entirely in support of him.

Additionally, analysts Chris Sutton and Paul Merson have shared their predictions for the game on Saturday. Both predict that the Toffees will win all three games at Trentside.

“Last week at Goodison Park, I felt Everton was going to give Manchester United some trouble.” However, Merson informed Sportskeeda that Alejandro Garnacho’s worldie “took the stuffing out of them.” They had a lot of excellent opportunities in the first half, but they missed them all and ultimately lost by a wide margin.

“Last week, Nottingham Forest puffed and puffered against Brighton. If you take away the Goodies’ most recent performance—a loss to Manchester United—they’ve been doing fairly well.

Here, I’m going to side with Everton. They are playing a really big game. They will trail Forest by 12 points if they lose this game. Everton has to win this game by three points because Forest is one of the clubs they will be pursuing.

Sutton concurred and expressed his opinion that the Reds and Toffees have a “big game” coming up. Additionally, he expresses his belief that Cooper “may run into issues” with Marinakis’ high expectations for Forest.

“For Nottingham Forest, who saw Brighton end their unbeaten home record last week, this feels like a big game,” he said to BBC Sport. “I’ve read that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis’ expectations are the source of strain currently facing manager Steve Cooper. Marinakis needs to exercise caution, in my opinion, as it appears that he is unaware of Cooper’s bond with the supporters.

“Everton clearly needs the points severely as well. Although they lost 3-0 to Manchester United last weekend, I felt they were unlucky because they had plenty of opportunities to score. My initial prediction was a draw, but in reality, I just have a sense that Sean Dyche will find a way, giving Everton the victory.

Merson’s pick: Everton 0–2 Nottingham Forest

Prediction of Chris Sutton: Nottingham Forest 0–1 Everton
