Paul Robinson raves about Nottingham Forest defender during defeat

Despite Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 loss to Everton on Saturday, defender Murillo received praise

Paul Robinson, a pundit for BBC Sport, gave him props during the match for his valiant first half.

Murillo signed for Forest in the summer for around £11 million and he’s been outstanding since arriving.

The man signed from Corinthians has taken to life in the Premier League extremely well.

Pundit hails Forest star Murillo

The 21-year-old looks like a steal from Forest’s perspective and it’s a travesty that he’s only played in one victory.

It’s now just one victory in 10 games for Forest and Saturday’s defeat to Everton will keep Steve Cooper under fire.

Robinson was impressed with Murillo in the first half on Saturday, heaping praise on the Forest man for some of his defensive work.

He told BBC Sport: “Murillo saved his team from going behind. Absolutely brilliant. McNeil does everything right but Murillo gets behind the goalkeeper and clears it off the line.”

Forest must protect young defender

It seems quite clear already that Forest won’t have Murillo for long, with top clubs bound to come calling.

Manchester City were keen on Murillo at the start of the season and almost bid for him before Forest did.

The Reds did extremely well to get Murillo to the City Ground and his defensive brilliance has been there for all to see.

He was one of very few Forest players who can be happy with their performance on Saturday, with the drab display leaving boos ringing across the City Ground.

The challenge for Forest boss Cooper is to protect Murillo and keep him playing at this level for the foreseeable.

Right now, he’s getting better with every game and he will hope to help the club up the Premier League in the coming weeks.
