Nottingham Forest want 49-year-old if Steve Cooper is sacked

One journalist has claimed that Oliver Glasner is the number one candidate to replace Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest.

The pressure has intensified on the head coach after a second successive home defeat, this time to Everton on Saturday.

Before the game, all the talk was about Forest boss Cooper and the pressure that he finds himself under.

It was claimed last week that he had become under fire, although it was also mentioned that things were relaxed behind the scenes.

Forest want Glasner

According to European football journalist Johnny Georgeopoulos, Forest would make Glasner their number one candidate to fill the role if Cooper leaves.

Marinakis isn’t thought to be close to pulling the trigger. However, with Fulham and Wolves away to come, the decision could become an easy one.

Cooper has been in charge at Forest for over two years now. He joined when the club were bottom of the Championship and they’ve been on an upward trajectory ever since.

Who is Oliver Glasner?

He’s an Austrian football manager and one who would come with a reputation as being a respected head coach.

The 49-year-old began life in coaching with RB Salzburg where he was the assistant manager for two years.

His first management gig came in caretaker charge of FC Liefering but he oversaw just a single match.

His first actual role came at SV Ried before he moved to LASK in 2015, initially as a Director of Football.

He then got a crack in Germany with Wolfsburg before joining Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021.

Forest-linked Glasner enjoyed his finest spell in management there helping them win the Europa League, beating Rangers in the final.

Glasner is likely to be keen to get back into work but now Forest fans must wait to see what happens with Cooper in the short-term.
