The latest Nottingham Forest news as Sheffield United look to be the first Premier League club to make a managerial change this season

Sheffield United are reportedly set to replace Paul Heckingbottom with Chris Wilder

Nottingham Forest’s Premier League rivals Sheffield United are set to make the first managerial change of the season, according to reports.

After earning promotion back to the Premier League last season, the Blades are struggling to adapt to life back in the top flight and currently sit bottom of the league. The team have won just one of their 14 games so far this season, piling pressure on manager Paul Heckingbottom.

Sheffield United fell to a damaging 5-0 loss against fellow relegation candidates Burnley on Saturday afternoon and it seems that that was the last straw. Various reports claim that the club are set to make a change in the dugout as they look to kick-start their season.

The Blades look to be turning to a familiar face, with it said that former manager Chris Wilder is set to return to Bramall Lane. The 56-year-old has been out of work since leaving Watford back in May after just 11 matches in charge.

Wilder has had previous success with Sheffield United, leading them to the Premier League in 2019. The club secured safety the following season. He was sacked in March 2021 with the club fighting relegation.

The Blades are four points off safety in the league they chase down Luton Town in 17th. Nottingham Forest’s current form could have them looking over their shoulder, but they do have an eight-point gap over the Blades and six points over Everton in 18th position.
