Betis rocked as Spain star signs Serie A deal ahead of Gers visit

Real Betis look set to lose Spanish left-back Juan Miranda to AC Milan – but not before he tries to dump Rangers in the Europa League.

According to Spanish football journalist Matte Moretto, the 23-year-old Spaniard has agreed a pre-contract with the Italian giants which will see him join the club in June.

Said to be worth around £1.7m (€2m) per season, Moretto is claiming that AC Milan are trying to pursue a January move for Juan Miranda but that negotiations with Real Betis are ongoing.

Whilst it certainly appears that the former Barcelona left-back is set to move to Italy, Juan Miranda will be available for Real Betis as they host Rangers in the Europa League.

Juan Miranda didn’t play at Ibrox

Clearly a highly-rated left-back option, interestingly Real Betis have opted to use other members of their squad and not Juan Miranda in Europe.

The Spanish defender – who spent time on loan at Schalke 04 and Real Betis before his full-time move to Balompié in 2021 – has only played in two Europa League matches for the club this season.

Juan Miranda started Real Betis’s home win over Sparta Prague whilst he came off the bench in the club’s defeat on the road to the Czech side.

An unused substitute against Rangers on Europa League duties, Real Betis have preferred to use Brazilian option Abner Vinícius, who started in the Spanish club’s 1-0 defeat at Ibrox.

Juan Miranda has instead been preferred on La Liga duties and the left-back earned his only cap for the Spanish national team in 2021, where he even scored in a 4-0 win over Lithuania.

Rangers set for Real Betis Europa League showdown

Rangers are set to visit Seville for a crunch Europa League Group C decider against Real Betis with the Ibrox squad’s fate in the competition not yet sealed.

After a disappointing 1-1 draw with Aris Limassol in Glasgow, Rangers secured qualification for the Europa Conference League but not the Europa League.

Heading into the final group game against Real Betis, the Spanish outfit sit top of Group C on nine points with Rangers second on eight.

Sparta Prague – who travel to Cyprus to face Aris Limassol on matchday six – sit on seven points with Rangers needing to win in Spain or match the Czech’s result in order to qualify.

Real Betis have also been boosted by injury news surrounding one influential Argentina international who was initially expected to be ruled out of the match.
