Paul Merson has given his prediction of the upcoming Premier League match between Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit believes that there will be three goals in the match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

So, what has Paul Merson said about Tottenham Hotspur against Newcastle United? Let’s take a look.

Paul Merson backs Tottenham Hotspur win v Newcastle United

Well, Tottenham Hotspur will lock horns with Newcastle United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.

Both Spurs and Newcastle lost on Thursday evening. While Tottenham went down to West Ham United in the London derby, the Magpies suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of relegation-threatened Everton at Goodison Park.

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has backed Spurs to pick up all three points from the encounter against Newcastle.

The Sky Sports pundit has predicted Ange Postecoglou’s side to win 2-1.

Merson told SportsKeeda: “Much like the previous game, this is a hard one to call as it depends on what happens between West Ham and Tottenham. That said, I just have a feeling Ange Postecoglou’s side will nick this one.

“Newcastle have been outstanding so far, but most of their players are playing out of their skins, so I think things will catch up with them sooner or later. The Magpies have a UEFA Champions League clash against AC Milan coming up too, so they’ll have one eye on that game as they are still in with a chance of making it through to the knockout stages.

“They don’t have their destiny in their own hands, so they’ll have to secure a win against the Serie A giants and hope Borussia Dortmund do them a favor against Paris Saint-Germain, so it’ll be an interesting one to keep an eye out for.

“Spurs are on a bit of a bad run, but something tells me they’ll show up and record a narrow 2-1 win.

“Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Newcastle United.”

My View: Tottenham Hotspur will win vs Newcastle United

In my view, Tottenham Hotspur will eke out a win against Newcastle United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.

I believe that Spurs will get the job done. The problem with Tottenham in recent matches has been that they have conceded far too many goals.

Just like against Aston Villa, Tottenham failed to hold onto their lead against West Ham United in the London derby.

I think that Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou will rectify that against Newcastle. The Magpies themselves are not at their best, and I am backing Tottenham to win against Eddie Howe’s team.
