Alan Shearer has included Everton ace Dwight McNeil in his Premier League Team of the Week after his display against Chelsea.

The winger’s contribution to the Toffees’ 2-0 victory over the Blues at Goodison Park on Sunday, December 10, earned him the honor.

The home team secured the Premier League victory with goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin in the second half.

Shearer told the official Premier League website on December 11 that “he was a constant threat in dangerous pockets, even though he didn’t score himself.””Sean Dyche is performing at his peak once more.”

Stunning form

Both McNeil and Everton are in superb form, with the Toffees simply not letting their recent 10-point deduction get to them.

Dyche’s side did lose their first match immediately after the sanction, falling to a miserable 3-0 home loss to Manchester United.

But since then, they have come together to produce some superb results, with Everton now one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League with three wins in a row.

The run began with a 1-0 win away to Nottingham Forest, with the Toffees then putting their Goodison Park hoodoo behind them with 3-0 and 2-0 home wins against Newcastle United and Chelsea respectively.

Having been shot down from 14th place to 19th place in the table following their punishment, the Merseyside outfit now occupy 17th place, and don’t look like slowing down anytime soon.

A tough trip to Burnley is up next for Dyche and his men, with the manager in for an emotional return to Turf Moor on Saturday (16 December).
