Tuesday night’s game was thrilling from start to finish as the Dallas Mavericks upset the Los Angeles Lakers 127-125. Luka Doncic, who was first deemed doubtful, not only participated but also guided the Mavs to a victory over LeBron James and LA.

In his TNT postgame interview, Doncic talked about a conversation he had with LeBron following the victory, as reported by House of Highlights.

Doncic praised LeBron, saying, “It’s amazing the way he talks to me.” Fantastic friendship, I’m happy that I can play games like this against LeBron as a Slovenian. It’s simply unique.

LeBron also enjoyed a great game. The Lakers superstar finished with 33 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. Nevertheless, it wasn’t enough to overcome Luka and the Mavs.

Luka Doncic spearheaded the Dallas offense with an incredible double-double, tallying 17 assists in addition to three points. With Kyrie Irving sidelined, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dante Exum stepped up to support Luka Doncic.

Dallas had a significant victory. It speaks something about the Mavs that they were able to overcome a skilled Lakers squad even without Irving. They are a formidable competitor in the Western Conference and should be given due consideration.

Given that Luka has a low back injury, his performance was particularly noteworthy. Doncic even acknowledged, via ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, that he wasn’t sure how he performed on Tuesday night.

“I don’t know how I played [vs. Lakers],” Luka said. “I slept very little today. Everything hurts. I’m getting old, man, but we got two back-to-back wins, which is amazing, especially against a team like the Lakers. So I’m really proud of these guys.”

What’s next for Mavs?

The Mavs will play next on Thursday at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Dallas sits 2.5 games behind Minnesota for the top spot in the Western Conference as of this writing, so Thursday’s affair should also be a competitive game.

Dallas will then hit the road to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday night.
