Vangelis Pavlidis, a striker target for West Ham, says he’s prepared to “take the next step” in his career amidst rumors of a move to London.

To put it mildly, West Ham has needed a new forward badly over the past week.

The Hammers were searching for an attacker prior to a wave of important players suffering injury.

Tim Steidten and David Moyes are under pressure to find someone because Michael Antonio will be sidelined for an additional six weeks, Mohammed Kudus will be out at the AFCON until the following month, and Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta are also hurt.

Numerous forwards, including Hugo Ekitike, Steven Bergwijn, Armando Broja, and Serhou Guirassy, have been linked to West Ham.

However, remarks made in the run-up to the window by another celebrity connected to the Hammers will raise some eyebrows.

In light of recent rumors of a move to London, Vangelis Pavlidis, a target for West Ham, says he’s prepared to “take the next step.”

Scouts from West Ham have reportedly been observing Pavlidis in action for Dutch team AZ Alkmaar, whom the Hammers defeated in the Europa Conference League semifinal last year, according to a story from 90min earlier in the season.

And the massive Greek forward did not disappoint, scoring three goals in a 3-0 victory over Heerenveen.

22 goals in 22 games this season

90min understands that West Ham have been monitoring Pavlidis’ impressive performances this season, with Brentford also keeping tabs on him,” the report claimed back in October.

“Technical director Tim Steidten is looking to bolster a strike force that is currently relying on Michail Antonio and Danny Ings – both of whom could depart the club next year.”

Well it seems Konstantinos Mavropanos’ international teammate is now eager to leave AZ, as reported by De Telegraaf.

Pavlidis, who has 22 goals and an assist in 22 games so far this season, admits he is now ready to test himself in a better league.

‘What I can say is clear’

He can play across the front line and really impressed in the games against West Ham last season.

The trouble is, The Evening Standard claims Fulham and Chelsea are now sniffing around the forward too.

“Are there transfer things going on? I don’t like to talk about that now — I’d rather keep it to myself,” Pavlidis said, as transcribed by Hammers News from the paywall site.

“What I can say is clear is that I am ready, both physically and technically, to take the next step.

“The winter transfer window is of course different than in the summer. It’s more difficult in different ways. That is why I don’t know whether this is the right time.”

It certainly would be for West Ham given the issues at the moment and the big Greek’s versatility.

The fact he would have Mavropanos to help him settle in at the London Stadium is a bonus too.
