Nottingham Forest remain interested in Southampton’s Che Adams during the January transfer window, it is claimed.

Reports last summer claimed that Forest were interested in Adams after the Saints’ relegation from the Premier League. It was claimed that he “could cost up to £15million” with Everton also said to be interested at the time.

The striker has netted seven goals in all competitions so far this season with his current contract at Saints expirring in the summer. He also scored five times and chipped in with three assists in the top flight during the previous campaign.

And now according to Turkish news outlet Premier Lig Turkiye, Forest remain interested in the forward. However, they are said to face competition from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and Wolves.

The 27-year-old was “gutted” to see Saints relegated with just 25 points last season as they finished rock-bottom. “This season has been the most challenging of my career,” he wrote on Instagram.

“We have failed and definitely fallen short of everybody’s expectations and for that I can’t express how disappointed and also sorry I am. I have given my everything for this club since I first walked through Staplewood on 1st July 2019 and St Mary’s, but this year wasn’t enough. Myself and everyone at the club will learn from the mistakes we’ve made this season.”

Leicester-born Adams joined Southampton from Birmingham City for a reported £15m in 2019. He previously had spells playing in the East Midlands, having spent time at Ilkeston Town in Derbyshire and non-league Leicestershire team Oadby Town.
