Hannibal Mejbri is set to make a decision on whether to join Everton or Sevilla on loan in the coming days, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing on his daily Substack update (11 January), the reliable transfer guru reports that both clubs are still pushing to sign the Manchester United youngster for the rest of the season. The final decision lies with the Tunisia international now, with Romano expecting a decision to come “soon”.

“Sevilla keep pushing for the signing of Hannibal Mejbri on loan, while Everton are also still trying to sign the Manchester United youngster,” he wrote.

“It’s up to the player as revealed three days ago – decision soon.”

Hannibal is a top young talent and has shown his qualities in the Manchester United squad on occasion, but mostly with Birmingham last season.

He was an energetic ball winner in the middle of the pitch, but also has fantastic ability on the ball to find a pass, beat a man and when in advanced areas he is capable of scoring goals too.

His versatility would be huge for the team too as he can play as a number eight, a number ten or on the wing and with the current Everton squad quite light on numbers that could be key.

But with Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison clearly the first-choice options on the wing, and the midfield of Amadou Onana, James Garner and Abdoulaye Doucoure picking itself right now he may find it hard to break into the team.

With just one game a week too chances are limited and that may be why Sevilla are still strongly in the race, so this is one to keep an eye on in the coming days.
