The pressure is continuing to mount on Stefano Pioli after Milan suffered elimination from the Coppa Italia, having lost to Atalanta in their quarter-final duel.

Following the final whistle of their cup match against La Dea on Wednesday night, the San Siro crowd openly jeered the coach and his players. The supporters were eager to express their displeasure following yet another dismal performance.

At the midway point of the season, Milan has little to be happy about as they have already been eliminated from the Champions League and lie nine points behind league leaders Inter.

Due to their apparent failure on all fronts, Milan are now more likely to replace Pioli in the summer, as noted by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com. Almost all of the supporters have given up on the coach because they believe he is outclassed tactically.

Rossoneri CEO Giorgio Furlani spoke to Sky Sports Italia about the team’s poor results this season, clearly sending a message to Pioli in the process.

“It’s very disappointing because we wanted to stay in the running in all possible competitions, even in Serie A we believe we can do better.

“This evening there were negative moments which unfortunately penalized us, but not everything is going badly, and we remain focused on the present with clarity and the desire to do well.”
