Everton get ready for Amadou Onana exit amid £60m+ January update

Everton to apply ‘January Premium’ fee as they get ready for star exit at Goodison – report

Everton get ready for Amadou Onana exit at Goodison Park as £60m+ January transfer news emerges

Everton want to double the £33million fee they spent on Amadou Onana as the club are braced for interest from some of their Premier League rivals in the January transfer window, according to iNews.

The newspaper reported on its website on Thursday (11 January) that the Toffees’ continued “financial uncertainty” means they will have to take a practical view of any potential sales.

Although it said the Blues don’t want to cash in on some of their star players, it added that the club could be set to apply a “January premium” on the fee for the 22-year-old Belgian midfielder.

Not the right time

There will never be a right time for Everton to sell Onana due to the quality he possesses, but now is certainly not the moment for them to be allowing him to leave the club.

There appears to be an acceptance that he will eventually leave Goodison Park as a number of Premier League sides and some of Europe’s biggest clubs have expressed an interest in him.

But the Toffees are certainly going to need him over the next few months as they look to fight off relegation again this season following their 10-point deduction.

There is a chance, though, that some of the Belgian’s potential suitors are going to look to take advantage of the Blues’ concerning financial situation.

But the club simply have to find a way to be able to keep hold of their best players this month, otherwise, they could be in deep trouble as they sit just one point above Luton Town in the relegation zone.
