Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are keen on signing Amadou Onana from Sean Dyche’s Everton.

That is according to Football Transfers, which has reported the chances of United being able to get Onana in the January transfer window.

So, what has been reported about Everton defensive midfielder Amadou Onana and Manchester United? Let’s take a look.

Manchester United want to sign Everton star Amadou Onana

Football Transfers reports that Manchester United is interested in acquiring Arsenal’s Madou Onana from their Premier League opponents.

According to the article, Onana is allegedly “a major target” for United. It seems doubtful that the Red Devils will be able to move the Everton star to Old Trafford during the January transfer window, despite the fact that they have also been connected to Leeds United’s Archie Gray.

According to Football Transfers, “nothing will take place for another six months at least.”Onana has also been linked to Chelsea and Arsenal.

My View: Everton should not sell Amadou Onana in January

In my opinion, Everton should not sell Amadou Onana in the January transfer window. Yes, I know that the Toffees have FFP issues and United are a massive club, but the Merseyside outfit have to keep hold of the defensive midfielder for the rest of the season.

Everton are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season. Manager Sean Dyche needs to keep his best players, and that includes Onana.

The 22-year-old, who cost Everton £33 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Lille in the summer of 2022 (BBC Sport), has made 15 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for the Toffees so far this season. He has scored one goal in those games.

The youngster has made 49 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. Onana has scored two goals and given two assists in those games.
