The latest transfer news as Premier League trio Aston Villa, Wolves and Nottingham Forest battle for a £12.8m Dortmund outcast.

Along with two other Premier League teams, Aston Villa has apparently contacted Borussia Dortmund on the availability of Giovanni Reyna, an attacker for the United States national team.

When Reyna moved to Dortmund in July 2019, he was regarded as one of the most fascinating young talents on the planet and had the whole world at his disposal in terms of wonderkids. But after four and a half years, BVB just has the adaptable attacking midfielder as a bench option.

Reyna was a regular throughout his first full season in Germany as he notched four goals and seven assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances. Game time has reduced ever since, though, with just 1,279 league minutes accumulated over the last two-and-a-half campaigns combined.

Football Transfers reports Villa are trying to offer Reyna a route out of Germany as they believe they can help him reach his sky-high potential. It’s claimed the Villans have made an official approach to Dortmund, asking for the required conditions of any deal.

Wolves and Forest also keen on Reyna

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest, two other Premier League teams, will compete with Unai Emery’s team for Reyna. According to reports, the two have also enquired about the 21-year-old from Dortmund in an effort to close a deal in January.

With 24 appearances and seven goals for the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), Reyna is a versatile player who can play as a number 10, on either wing, or even as a deep-lying playmaker.According to ESPN, Dortmund has requested €15 million, or £12.8 million, from potential suitors.
