The latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as there is uncertainty over the future of loanee Nuno Tavares amid a lack of game time.
Nottingham Forest could be impacted by reported interest in loanee Nuno Tavares with French side Marseille ‘considering’ a move for the full-back.
The defender is currently on loan at the City Ground, having signed until the end of the season back in the summer. He has though struggled for game time under both Steve Cooper and Nuno Espirito Santo.
Tavares has appeared in five different events so far this season. Since September, when he participated for 39 minutes in a 2-0 loss to Man City, he has not participated in a Premier League match.
His future has been speculated about due to his lack of playing time.Marseille is reportedly “considering” making a move for Tavares before the transfer market closes, according to L’Equipe. The left-back played 39 appearances and scored six goals while on loan with the French club during the 2022–2023 season.
The reported interest will leave Arsenal with a decision to make over the full-back. Should they want to get the player more game time then they may opt to recall him from his loan spell at the City Ground.
After former Forest loanee Renan Lodi leaves for the winter, he probably plays for Marseille. The Brazilian joined Marseille on loan during the summer after spending the previous season on loan with Forest; after just six months, he left the team to join Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
Tavares is rumored to be willing to end his loan period early and has previously been connected to an early departure from Forest. Although there are alternatives in the loan agreement to extend it permanently in the summer, it is doubtful that this will happen until Nuno significantly boosts his playing time.
