Newcastle United transfers: Miguel Almiron is the latest player to be linked with a move away from St James’ Park.
Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron has reportedly attracted interest from Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claims that Al Shabab and Newcastle have’reached a provisional deal’ on Almiron’s transfer, and the player is amenable to the change. Though there was a tentative agreement, Jacobs emphasized that “the deal is not done yet.”
As we approach the last full week of January, Newcastle has had a quiet transfer window with no new players joining. Thus far, just one player has left the team: Javier Manquillo, who joined La Liga team Celta Vigo; nevertheless, transfers away have been linked to Cameron Wilson, Adrian Trippier, and now Almiron.
Trippier has been subject to a transfer approach by Bayern Munich, which has been rejected by Newcastle. Wilson was targeted by Atletico Madrid regarding a loan deal, which the Magpies would not entertain.
However, it’s said that Newcastle would be more receptive to Almiron leaving the team. After leaving Atlanta United in 2019 for a then-club record amount to join The Magpies, the Paraguayan winger has scored 30 goals in 195 appearances.
This season, the 29-year-old has made 31 appearances across all competitions and has scored five goals, including the team’s first Champions League goal in more than 20 years during a 4-1 victory at St. James’ Park over Paris Saint-Germain. With 11 goals in 34 Premier League games, including a run of eight goals in nine games, the winger had a successful 2022–2023 season and was named October 2022’s Premier League Player of the Month.
