Nottingham Forest have knocked back a loan approach for Neco Williams.

That’s according to Sky Sports who claim Feyenoord want to take the 22-year-old to the Eredivisie. Leeds, who are on the look out for full backs after former Reds favourite Djed Spence had his Elland Road loan ended, have also been linked.

Williams had a stuttering start to the season, with injury and a lack of game-time limiting his chances under Steve Cooper. However, he earned a couple of starts in Cooper’s final two matches and has played in every one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s fixtures

The Wales international, who has mostly played right back but can operate on the other flank, spent his formative years in the Liverpool set-up before moving to Forest in 2022 for a fee claimed to be £17million.

He has two-and-a-half-years left on his contract and is in competition with Gonzalo Montiel as first choice on the right side of the defence.

Forest are looking to reduce numbers in the current transfer window but it would be a surprise if they were to move on a player who has so far been played regularly by Nuno.
